I love that sometimes the creative process is completely driven by the mundane. The desk in my office is rarely tidy and is usually covered in scraps of fabric and little bits of thread. There are a few other things that sit here and keep me company whether I'm sewing, computing or wrapping up orders. For one, my camera is rarely more than an arms length away.
Scraps, camera. Scraps, camera. I'd been thinking about it for a long time, but for whatever reason yesterday I grabbed a hunk of scrap fabric and set about sewing myself a new camera strap. The scratchy black strap that came with my DSLR simply wasn't going to cut it anymore.
After posting the finished product on Flickr yesterday, I've decided this strap is a winner. 2 hours later I ordered 20 yards of black webbing and 100 of what I now know are called triglides and keepers. Folks, you're looking at what will be the newest addition to the Splityarn product inventory. Custom camera straps. The camera straps will still be a week or two away from getting listed so in the meantime I updated the shop with a whack of new pouches. Move over zippers, now there's something...uh, meatier?
I'm so glad you're going to sell these! I will definitely get one from you.

Oh, I love it! My two dslrs need new straps. If you can throw in a manly styled strap or two so I can buy one for my hubby too!

I love it! How would you feel about guitar straps?? I've got a Taylor that would look fantastic with a custom SplitYarn strap...
and I wonder how one would look with my Canon Powershot G9...too much strap for a camera that's NOT a DSLR?

Ooh, I may have to jump on the camera strap bandwagon. I just got a new DSLR and a custom-made strap would be PERFECT!

That is so awesome - much better than my scratchy strap with "EOS Digital" splashed in huge letters. I may just need to get one of these when they come out...
