It never fails to amuse me how my passion for a project will change between yarn selection and the midway point of knitting. When I began Orangina, I wanted to have it knit by the end of the month for a party. One year later I finally finished. Bearing that in mind with CeCe, I thought I'd have a project to carry me through until November. I figured I'd work a few rows here and there once it finally got too big to be a purse project. As it turns out, I didn't put it down. Start to finish in 2 weeks. Score another one for the Christmas gift pile!
The Project Details:
Pattern: CeCe design by Bonne Marie Burns of Chicknits
Yarn: Long ago discontinued Paton's Cotton Club in colour 6137. After I posted about not knowing the age of the yarn, Mum chimed in that it may have been from my elementary school years, so we're talking late 70's to early 80's. Talk about vintage stash yarn!
Needles: Size 6 bamboo
Started: September 11, 2006
Completed: September 25, 2006
Modifications: I knit the bottom an inch longer than the pattern called for, but that's because I was watching TV instead of paying attention.
Button: Vintage bakelite bought off ebay in a HUGE lot of random buttons.
Total cost: $4.95 for the pattern (I'm not counting the 20 year old stash yarn gifted from Mum in the cost.)
Final Verdict: I wish I'd knit this in a crisper yarn like a linen, but overall the drape of this cotton is nice. We'll revisit for fit once it's opened Christmas morning.
Beautiful! Glad I'm not the only one that procrastinates for a year before finishing some knitting projects - also glad that this was not one of those types of projects for you. The button is divine!

How did you know I really wanted a Cece sweater? Oh, that will look so great on me! I hope it fits! ;-) Seriously, I think it looks amazing, and I am encouraged by your knitting speed on it - I have the yarn and wouldn't mind making it for the fall. Since our falls are so crisp and cool and all that. *cough*cough*

Wow! It looks wonderful -- and the big smile... is this one of those "presents" you open for yourself Christmas morning? Seriously, keep it -- if you really need a present for someone else you always know you can knit another one fast ... i'm just sayin.

Gawd, Woman, it's fabulous! You cannot give that one away, it fits perfect. Make another if you must. I do like the linen blend mine is in, but the drape on yours is just fine. Did you see? Ms. Burns just came out with a new design, I already got it. Nice job. See you Saturday.

Very nice! The proportions of the sweater are perfect. The sleeves are just right, I like the depth of the v-neck, and the length is perfect for wearing over a longer undershirt. I know you said that adding the extra inch was an accident, but it was a good accident!
