I have another finished project to add to the Week of Finished Objects. It's a scarf of Crystal Palace Squiggle and Fizz. Simple garter stitch knit on US size 15 needles with one strand of each held together. I think it took about 45 minutes to complete. 45 minutes with plenty of breaks to drink coffee and watch MST3K, that is. This one will be for one of my nieces for Christmas. I have 3 nieces, all under the age of 10, all 3 go mental for anything pink. Seems to me that usually shifts to purple at some point, right? I seem to remember going through a huge purple phase somewhere before I turned 10.
Today's WIP Feature Quilt:
the Hyper-Girlie Flower Quilt
This quilt is made up of 2 inch squares. No sashing or borders, just square after square after square. It was inspired by a postage stamp quilt I saw on the Antiques Roadshow. The finished size will be about 88" x 88"; about big enough to be a queen sized bed quilt. 52 different flower fabrics. I'll save you the math. That's 1936 individual squares. There are no intentional fabric repeats within a 12 inch square. I'm not even strip quilting it, (sewing together long strips of fabric and then cutting out squares from those strips) I'm hand selecting where each square will go. Intentionally random. The squares are all cut out, but I haven't sat down to piece them yet. It's no wonder this crazy thing isn't finished yet!
purple is at age 6. we love purple and hate pink.
we just made the transition. (me and my 6year old) however, i think the love of pink hits you again in your late twenties...:)
love the scarf

beautiful quilt, though I must say that I question your sanity for piecing almost 2000 pieces seperately.
