I went from having a productive, creative weekend to a week of running around fixing up fiddly details of trying to stay in the country. So far this week I've taken my car for a Texas Safety Inspection, a US Customs inspection, a Law Enforcement Inspection and once I have valid American insurance on it (instead of Canadian insurance) I'll go up to the County Clerks office to get my official title and Texas Registration done.
The customs inspection was fun - a good gang of folks out at the airport. When I first arrived in their office they were worried that the car was going to need all sorts of modifications to bring it up to the US codes. Then they realized that although the car was manufactured for Canada, to be sold in Canada, it was MADE in Indiana. We're not just a bunch of unsafe Canadians driving unsafe cars afterall!
With all the running around I've been doing, I haven't done much knitting or sewing. A few rows here and there on PBS but that's about it. Hopefully I'll be able to devote a little more time to it this afternoon and tomorrow (somewhere between the immigration/residency photos and fingerprints and the immigration doctor's visit).
